2.8-M Cebu Pacific Passengers Flies in Q1, upto 12%

MANILA, Philippines - Budget carrier Cebu Pacific flew over 2.8 million passengers in the first 3 months of the year, a 12% growth from last year.
"We attribute this first quarter growth to flight frequency increases to key international markets, brought about by the additional capacity from our brand new Airbus A320," Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution, said in a statement.

Iyog said the performance puts Cebu Pacific on track with its target of flying 12 million passengers this year.
Cebu Pacific enjoyed a 32% growth in international traffic as it carried 672,456 passengers overseas in the first quarter compared to the 511,178 passengers flown during the same quarter of 2010.
The Gokongwei-owned airline has doubled its Manila-Incheon (Seoul) service, making it twice daily. It also added flights to its Manila-Bangkok service to bring it to 10 times weekly.
Iyog said Cebu Pacific achieved an 87% load factor from January to March, an increase of 4 percentage points year-on-year.
"We attribute this to CEB’s trademark low fares, the increasing number of passengers who avail of our affordable seat sales months in advance, and our extensive route network," she added.
Cebu Pacific operates the youngest aircraft fleet in the country. It took delivery of its 15th Airbus A320 last January, increasing the number of its aircraft to 33.
By the end of 2011, the airline expects to operate a fleet of 37 aircraft.
